The long Voyage back...

After a few hours sleep I meet up with Charlie, SD's FOH engineer for our last shop for Merino.

With only Half an hour to shop decisions are made fast and we're back and waiting for the shuttle to the airport and the beginning of our voyage home.

It's a long line of band and crew for baggage check… our family is now starting it's long voyage back to it's various corners of the world.

And just enough time for a coffee and a brazilian gurn before mounting our first of many flights.

Goodbye New Zealand.. Goodbye Australia.. we had fun!

And thanks to my new Dickies gloves and boots my feet and hands are still intact, thank you Len ;)

Just a short matter of getting around the other side of the globe to be back home.

Meanwhile Steve, Cal, James and JT hang for a couple of days before hoofing it to Japan for a spot of Winwood- Clapton!

Napier Church Road Winery 5/11/11

So it's back to the airport and on a slightly larger propellor driven plane, this time an Aerospatiale ATR 72-500

Our in flight hostess Tiffany, fills us in on the subtle differences between each craft, namely that this plane has more grunt.

And very soon we're back stage, and what a sight to behold.. the famous NZ countryside at last... Hoorah!

Summers, Kimber and I grab a burger from catering and hit backstage to build.

Soon enough it's our time and as it's super windy so much so that we have to disregard our mid stage curtain..

Jet stands guardian of stage right.. but who's this behind him? Why it's that lovely man Mark Butler trying to make a hasty retreat.

And so with all the chairs set it's time to get to front of house and make sure my lights are focused..

But where is the Mix Mogul? Has he been replaced? Fear yea not audiophiles our award winning Mogul will be back in the hot seat for tonight's performance!

And so the last show calls for a group photo and we all assemble pre show to take our place in remembrance of a fab tour!

Eventually everybody arrived an the full photo was taken.. much to the amusement of Ricardo and monitor engineer Peter.

So it's still daylight and my show consists of bright white and some muted colours as the day light fades.

As this is the last show we have to wait until all the Steely Dan gear has been loaded into trucks before we can load ours.

At this point Ricardo's fireworks go someway to pass the time…

And it's passed the witching hour so we can fill the truck with our gear.. or turn into a pumpkin!

Back to grab a quick pint before bed in a fine Irish bar in Napier town..

Vector Arena Aukland 4/11/11

And it's up and out early looking for Merino!

James, Summers and I all go in search of this mystical wool.

But very soon it's time to get to work.

And so our last indoor gig and a fine indoor arena it is too!

Mitch, Steely Dan Production Manager hit's Jet Star up for some air miles.

And very soon Steve is sound checking with Steely Dan for his last appearance with the band.

And what a banging show!

Best audience yet, they really let their hair down.

When Steve asked all to stand for Gimme Some Loving not a bottom was left on it's seat!

With help from Mark my lighting show runs super smooth… Thanks buddy!

And yet another guest on stage for SD's encore! It's our own Paul Booth blasting downstage to Road Runner!!

Meanwhile after the Show Ricardo SD production assistant, Summers, Cal and I all go in search of a clear spot to light some fireworks :))))

Aukland Travel Day 03/11/11

It's time to get on another plane! This time something considerably smaller, just 50 seats but with propellors…

A Bombadier Q300 no less!!

We waste no time after getting to our hotel and wonder off into the town of Aukland.

Paul, Summers and I end up down the docks and wishing we had time to grab a ferry and do some island hopping.

Back to our Hotel rooms and spruce up in time for our evening meal with band and crew of Steely Dan..

Although I forgot my camera to capture the event my phone did a less than average job!

Mr. Becker snaps away...

The Mix Mogul cuts a deal while Elsbett our Danish waitress calls for more Tiramisu.

Frontiers man Brett, pictured far right.. looks on to the end of the night and his cocoa..

And a fine night was had by all!

TSB Arena Wellington, NZ 02/11/11

Dawn stretches it's golden tendrils across the bay and dance shadows across my hotel room..

It's another beautiful day in New Zealand and I'd better get moving!

Early call today as we have to prepare our newly hired drums and percussion.

Joe set's it up on the deck as the stage is not built yet.

But what's this????

Why it's Olivia our helpful local member of staff who was insistent that Joe had this new look.

We soon get the stage and are hot to trot!

I have the joy of reprogramming my lights but have the fabulous Mark Butler to help out...

After a spot of tasty chicken roast it's showtime!

Thanks to G I'm taught a couple of new sheep jokes, NZ style!

I'm joined by my dear friend Rhiannon whom I've not seen for what feels like a lifetime, she enjoys the show.

And our first show in fabulous New Zealand is over...

Kimber, Summers, Rhiannon and I head out to catch up and wind down over a beer...

Ok so why did they have to strike the day we were flying??

We plant ourselves near food and free wifi and try not to demolish anything more than our styrofoam cups!

We find ourselves sitting at our gate endlessly waiting for our late leaving plane..

Reporters are filming us as we wait.. and wait..eventually we take off, and subsequently..

Miss our connecting flight to New Zealand..

Once again thank you Qantas.

We stay overnight at a hotel and eventually hit Wellington!

Steve finds a new hero!

After a quick bag drop we all get out of our Wellington hotel rooms and wonder around for a while marvelling at Merino Wool garments.. Mmm warm and yet coooool!

And so we find ourselves in a fine Mexican eatery celebrating the Day of the Dead with Black Margarita's !!!

We also had some amazing food.. including some great tortilla soup!

Adelaide Entertainment Centre 30/10/11

Another day, another flight, another venue ....

We check out of Melbourne, grab a flight and are picked up at the airport and dropped at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre to the sound of flaming galahs!

Sound check soon comes around and the Mix Mogul gets a hand on it while the band run through an old favourite..

And it's a fast running production manager that gets the worm! Mitch gets a wriggle on!

A pre show Booth gets a tootin' on his flootin' and before we know it, it's show time!

It's a grand one too with Steve joining Steely Dan for Pretzel Logic and Road runner.. great!

And it's back to the hotel and sleep.. boy Adelaide looked nice from the hotel window!

Yarra Valley 29/10/11

Our penultimate gig in Oz has come really quick!

And we're driven further into Victoria and on to our last outdoor gig in Oz.

Craig and James pause for thought and reflect on the last couple of weeks..

And it's show time!

A blinding set is played and the skies part to reveal the final rays of sunshine fro the day.

And a post show drink with our driver Justin, a diamond geezer indeed!

A good session is had and everybody is vibing up for a great show!

Jet however is phased not!

Meanwhile we're waiting back stage for a ninja roadie manoeuvre...Ninja Rock Summers!

Australia is treated to another guest spot by our glorious leader who once again rocks the joint with Pretzel Logic!

Melbourne and a Haircut 26/10/11

Melbourne... a short drive from the airport and we hit the ground running...

Food is our main aim and Paul has a hot tip from his buddy - Pellegrini's.

Summers, Kimber, Richard, Paul and myself head out.

It looks like someone else knows this too and we're joined by Wayne, Ricardo and Cindy from the Steely Dan Entourage :)

With bellies full of home style Italian food we make our separate ways and I join Paul for a haircut... it wouldn't be a tour without one!

And it's back to the Hotel and a reunion with my dear friend Linda.

As it's been 3 years we waste no time and put the Kettle on!

Sydney Entertainment Center 25/10/11

We're back indoors at a fine arena.

There's a special treat planned but more on that later.

But First a sound check... Hey fans spot the flute?

And there's just enough time to meet up with one of Mum's friends Cathy and her Husband.

They had a great time at the show.

Needless to say the kids went wild........

We pack up and hit the hotel for a night, tomorrow we fly to Melbourne.

A Day on The Green 22/10/11

After a couple of hours drive from Sydney, Maria drops us at the Winery.

We sit a while waiting for the stage, tic toc tic toc..

With a few moments before the opening act Oh Mercy! Jose finds time to tweak his tone.

Boz from the Aussie Audio Co. mixes monitors for the opening act, great job!

Just a moment is that John Pollak, Steely Dans Lighting Director? And Cam from Rock Soldiers andstage manager for these outdoor gigs?

With me??? Why Yes! But who is the other guy? Ahh it's Steve!

And a day light show to test my lighting skills!

Days off in Sydney

After a short hop across the country in an aeroplane we hit our rooms and freshen up.

Booth, Summers, Kimber and I waste no time and hit the harbour to enjoy the opera house at night.

We amend to a local drinking hole and enjoy a pint of Victoria Bitter and some acoustic music thanks to a local duo.

Morning, wrote Mr Mix Mogul and a daylight trip to the Harbour...

And the famous Fish Market.. Steve points out his catch.

It's time to brave the local bus and hit Bondi Beach for a little sunbathing followed by the coastal walk to Bronte Beach.

And it's the end of another day in Oz...

And it's up and out for a chance at the stage!

The locals have been busy and the stage is already set for Steely Dan by the time we arrive.

But we waste no time and get ourselves ready for our time....

Mix Mogul is busy fending off local college students while trying to get a mix for the show..

The band kick off and run through a few tunes while I try and figure out my lights for the show.

I'ts no time at all before we get the stage and our time is not wasted the arena is packed with adoring fans who witness a superb first show of the tour!

The Band are banging and bang out the tunes.. Light up really rocks tonight!

And it's over.. the locals are a top bunch and have set the standard high for all other crews.. we load out and pack the truck in fine time! Thanks Justin and guys :)

And Natalie is there to take us home....

Production Day Perth 17/10/11

With Booth already installed in Perth earlier thanks to some long standing connections and Mix Mogul arriving prior to ourselves it's time for a quick bite before we grab Summers and Kimber to get to the venue and have a looksy.

It's a basketball arena and no mistaking, the smell of victory is still prevalent in our dressing room,

as were the giant dance contest signs!

Unfortunately all photographic evidence had to be destroyed due to stringent Aussie laws.

All that was allowed was a nice shot of Summers and Kimber watching clips while Mix Mogul waits for our gear!

Finally we roll out our cases and into the arena to run up the system and let the band jam a couple of tunes...

Jet Poe, Jose and Steve arrive together and it's all systems go!

The night ends with a detour to Red Rooster, a fine recommendation from our guide Natalie... tasty chicken!

FLY.. 15th-16th October 2011

It's morning on the day of our transglobal flight..and seems like yesterday that we'd said good bye to our gear after rehearsals..

And what a beautiful morning, sunrise in the English countryside....

Summers, Kimber, Mr Bailey and I all meet for a spot of lunch before braving the cuisine served upon the flight.

Our first ride in an Airbus A380 and we're all surprised at the smoothness of the flight... Thank Keenan for that!

So we arrive in Perth to warm weather, if slightly overcast and grab some dinner before heading bedwards. Tomorrow is a production day and we all need to be chipper, even if we have lost a day somewhere... Did we check down the back of the sofa??

ANZ Autumn fun - Rehearsal Part 1... 24/09/11

Actually it's Spring down there and we're all getting prepared for the trip!

Boxes are filling, forms are filled and flights booked.. We're almost there ;)

Jose and Steve lay into 'Light Up' to a rhythmic feast provided by Richard Bailey and Edson 'Cafe' Da Silva.. oh yes!

Paul Booth is unable to attend this rehearsal.......but fear not Jazz fans he'll be back in the high life again..soon!

Cork Jazz Festival- The Opera House 24-10-10

And so after a day to recoup our energy and Paul Booth* to tart himself around the city, it's off to the venue..

On the Way the Mogul notices a very long ladder and wonders who would climb such a precarious thing!

With an afternoon gig we have to carefully place our gear side stage..Jet takes a moment to plan his attack.

We leave Gareth, the stage manager and the venue to it's afternoon gig with the promise of aiding move the grand piano..

Cal lends a hand and also enjoys the comfort of this 19th century box..

With a few hours spent we hit the stage and set our stage with just enough room for the act before us.

Unfortunately when they arrive they decide it's not enough space as they play loud with huge amps..

I though it was a Jazz festival?

So we hit the city around lunchtime and it's straight to the load in!

The locals are a fun bunch and we're off to a good start.

A few tweaks to the guitar amp and and Steve's a happy man.

We had some work done on the Tele and had a great sounding new pickup fitted.

Thanks to Chris at Fishman for helping us out with that.

So it's time to focus my lights!

With help from Ali my lights are set and the colours shine.

A special night show tonight as I have family coming ....

My Mum hangs at front of house while sister Shelly and son Curig are close by.

Curig's Grandad Neil attends and he hasn't see Steve in a while, he saw Traffic and Blind Faith back in the day.

He was more than thrilled at seeing the current line up, they really delivered!

A great gig with the crowd singing along to most songs.. The roof was raised!!!

Cambridge and a very poorly narrator rises late whilst everyone has gone off in search of a nice coffee.

We hit the stage and after a swift load in and set up I get to focus lights!

The Roundhouse used to be used by trains wishing to change lines. The train would drive in and the centre would rotate and when the new line is selected steam away!

Good morning Brussels!!

Thankfully my head is clear but my waking thoughts are for those who endulged in the beer..

We all hop on the bus and are met by a few bleary eyes.

With a splendid load in and stage set it's time for The Mogul to get sound checked and your humble narrator to get his light show in order..With help from Michael and Yurs this takes no time.

Our show is a special one as we have on opening act. The Holmes Brothers kick off with some fabulous blues with the majority of singing from the drummer!

Showtime! And the crowd go wild.... oh yes indeed a storming show.

A day off in Brussels 15-10-10

We hit Brussels in time for lunch and a light beverage..

Whilst the Mogul, Jet and Steve hang out Summers, Kimber and I hit the town after what would appear to be the best chips in Europe.

Meanwhile the Moguls grin gets bigger and bigger..

While Booth's poses for the fans...after drinking the place dry of Leffe!

We finally reach the centre after managing to find a wicked record shop and an Oxfam!

With a brief pit stop we start the big trek back to the square.

And we all meet up for some top nosh in the square and the day is complete...

Utrecht Holland 14-10-10

Meanwhile some macho nonsense is occurring backstage.

Thankfully Kimber accepts the Moguls offer to make it stop.

After a nice relaxing day in this fabulous eastern German town we're all ready to rock the place.

I ponder a moment whilst assisting Tim in a tonal voyage.

And a pre show Booth watches Dawson's Creek....

What a show though.

Held in an old Soviet gymnasium with the Hungarian made scoreboard still intact!

A good band of locals help is high tail it out of there.. so big thanks Stephan and company.

After leaving Copenhagen we weave our way north to the Swedish border and Helsingor!

The load in is a muddy but carpeted, the venue's grand opening was the 10th and we are the first act to grace it's stage.

My Lighting helper, Shuna ( I'm sure it's not spelled that way) helps Paul Booth's smokin Hammond skills.....

And it's off to the dressing room and catering, situated on the other side of town..

Thankfully it's a small one ;)

A fine evening was had by all and we're away to Germany.....

Copenhagen Day off 101010

And we begin this day off with Steve and I hitting the Pipe shop!

Summers and Kimber go off one way with the Band and JT another, for a spot of sightseeing.

Followed by a great gathering of all at Charlies Bar for a pint of foaming nut brown ale..

After watching a guy push his electric car to the charger, Joe and I try to give it a lift.

And it's ship ahoy!! With Summers chartering a vessel for new lands..... Steve looks for a restaurant.

And we have a fine traditional meal of three types of herring!

And so with us all checked into our hotel rooms and freshened up.... it's time for currywurst!!

It's Oktoberfest and the festivities have begun with a Market and a traditional duo singing crazy umpah songs..

Kimber, Summers and I enjoy as much as we can then make a sharp exit for some sightseeing.

Joe has a little cuddle.

Ooooh nice...

And we find a brewery and order the meter of beer........

We continue our sightseeing with much merriment and Kimber enjoys a miniature pipe organist!

And it's back to freshen up before the evening....and what a nice surprise there was out of my window.

After a short break we meet up with Steve, Jet, The Mogul and Tim and make our way back to the fabulous brewery for some goulash...

As we climb bleary eyed out of our bunks we are in Paris!

Tim and I head of for food..

It looks like the locals are super keen to get us loaded in and as I approach the venue our cases are all aboard!

With 3 flights of stairs to have to carry the cases down it mustn't have been much fun.. load out will be tricky.

Joe Summers stops to check out the venue's history, apparently Josephine Baker died here...

I get a helping hand from Jean-Michel-Jarre's assistant LD Florian and we get a miniature Pink Floyd experience.

Summers does a support slot and all his links are in French, you got to love that.

And Kimber get's side stage to capture the event.... Rocking!!!

Load out was a lot of fun after all.....

We hit the venue with a small issue to resolve.. namely the width of the load in door.

The Hammond B3 along with a couple of other cases don't want to squeeze in..

So it's round the front they go..

After that the load in is quite straightforward with a tiny stage to populate.

Joe helps me with a lighting issue..

The Global Mogul cuts another deal after balancing the front of house with the venue's sound system..

Steve has a chat with the boys..

Jet Poe wonders about guitar world while Joe is thinking - merch - merch - merch...

And we arrive in a very colourful part of town and check into our old style hotel before hitting downtown for some shoe shopping.

Satin finds Cinderella's boot! With no Ella in sight!

Paul takes an interest in a local butchers.. mmmmm meat!

We stop to sample the local brew and Satin and Paul go off to meet a freind.

Tim and I go a wandering through the beautiful streets of Zurich's old town.

We get back and there's a party in room 301 as I have all the beer!

Without knowing it, Tim, Jet, James and I drink Tim's Birthday in.

It's a nice looking theatre with some fancy wooden ceiling that makes you feel like you're in a 1960's drinks cabinet!

So the fashion capital of the world is our playground today and the intrepid 3 set forth to find a good pipe shop and a cathedral!

Wicked trams... but don't lean into the road too much as they will hit you!

And so we awake with the fresh scent of Viennese air and a hunger for the noble sausage of Vienna.

Jet, Steve and your humble narrator venture forth!

I appears that a clutch of Besiktas football fans from Turkey are present in the square.

They are quite jubilant in their gathering.

We stop for coffee and apple cake at a street cafe, ooh how lovely that was!

We also find a fashionable tweed emporium with a rather excitable owner who expounds his views to our captive audience. Always nice to find a good knowledge of tweed and shoes in Austria.

And finally our goal is reached and a hollowed log of bread filled with a spicy sausage is devoured with relish by the adventurers.

Jet finds a moment to reflect at a street with a rather amusing name.. oh how we laughed!

So it's back to our hotel via the Soviet monument - celebrating liberation from the Nazi's in 1945.

A very sobering moment indeed... it's amazing how much history there is out there.

With a hearty night's sleep and a quick read of the morning papers it's off to the venue!

We're greeted by a man whose appearance is too close to Gaear Grimsrud from the film Fargo.

But in we go and it's time to look at the venue, and what a beautiful place!

The new boys get to work with some hi-tech tomfoolery, whilst JT and I observe...

Soon our bus arrives and we meet our driver Helli... soon followed by our truck driver Brian..

Just like The Stig.. his identity must be kept a secret.

The first show kicks off with Different light into I'm a man and Hungry man.

Valerie makes a comeback with Shanghai noodle factory, withering tree, slowdown sundown and vacant chair also back on the set!

By the time the show hits 'every mother son' the crowd are raging and Steve slams home with Oye Como Va!

The new players are rocking the groove and the kids go wild!

With a giant inflatable bottle of rum and a palm tree there really is only one place we can be!

So West Palm Beach and the Curzan Amphitheater eh?

As I walk from the bus to the dressing room, dozens of gecko's run across my path.

Lizards do in fact like the heat.. thankfully we have a little downpour and the heat dissipates momentarily.

As this is the last show many goodbyes are said.. in fact I missed a few.. so goodbye Mr Chuckles, Enzo and Chad.. did I get Robyn? I can't remember, we left fast....

It's Karl and Karl! A tale of 2 percussionist....Although I still think the likeness to Joe Pesci is more than passing!

So Jet hits top gal Karen in the merch truck to settle the accounts, buying himself a hoodie before the show.

So for the last time this tour Steve and the boys hit the stage for a blinding set of great songs.. some old, some new...

Atlanta, Georgia and an Amphitheater built in the 1940's!!

Avenue where you turn up with your hampers of home cooked loveliness.

It's a great little venue, although we have some fun with reversing the bus in *gulp*

Today both Santana and Steve have special guests.

Santana has India Arie and we have the legendary Willy Weeks.

It's hot and humid and we try hard to keep hydrated.

With our time for rehearsal short we move fast on the stage and get Willy comfortable.

We have a bit of fun with the rented bass amp. I soon we get him sound he likes onstage and James gives it his award winning sound out front.

The Ghetto is placed in the set and played beautifully.

It's interesting to hear Dear Mr. Fantasy and Gimme Some Lovin' played with bass, and the crowd love it.

Cal and his friend Jimbo, having already caused some consternation on the previous gig by running around without credentials, own up to the 'Kid Rock' prank played on your humble narrator.

As a prankster myself, at times, I take my hat off to them... Good call guys!

And its back on the bus.. Mogulating, snapping, chilling and chatting...

Being out on the road for some time now with only a short reprieve in which to catch his breath.. the Globul Mogul was in need of some attention to his barnet. Thanks to Jenny and Lisa we all had chance for some attention.. Even Stubby had his noggin neutered!

With all the baking heat in Virginia the atmosphere was very heavy indeed..
So it's was no surprise mother nature turned her charm on for us!
Boy did it rain!!!!

Mr.Paul Reed Smith pops in to check on on of his top artists and tells me home much he enjoys Steve's music.. In fact he tells me that it's always a pleasure to hear real music played by a real musician. I await my custom 24 in whale blue

So a fine soundcheck with a little guest appearance on drums..

And we're off into the night again.... just us and the road!

As soon as we climb from our bunks, eat breakfast and drink tea it's time to drop trailer and get our gear into the casino.

And hot it was.. Jet and I take to the beach for a little cool relief.. and some photo's maybe?

But our visit is brief due to raging heat so it's back to build our gear while we wait for the stage.

Top guy Paul, who tech's for Santana's second guitar Tommy sit's and enjoys our soundcheck.

Paul set up Jose with a new Flaxwood guitar which Steve has play of.

The gig's a good un and Vincent Pastore, aka Pussy from the hit TV show Sopranos make an appearance in the dressing room.

We're watching series 1 on the bus... So Steve has plenty to talk to him about.

With the African safely guiding our way we leave another hotel...

The road is short to Jones Beach and we arrive to the sound of Carlos shredding his PRS throught the PA.

This is our last day with Roscoe.. Eamon his replacement steps up and takes note!

A smooth sound check and with no competition from nature we will actually see the light show!

Ottawa Blues Festival of Blues 14-07-10

We wake outside a War museum in sunny Ottawa.

The beautiful old city in the distance provides a rather picturesque backdrop.

I only wish I'd had time to visit.

The festival has been on for about 9 days as we hit the stage and has a lare contingent of volunteers.

Our stage hands are given to us by Mark and are eager to help. Josh, Jay, Mark, Connor and others whose names I never got to learn.. jump to it!

Samantha, our back stage security volunteer introduces herself to Steve as his neighbours grand daughter from where he grew up.
It seems she knew his father too, small world.
They have a good old natter about this and that while waiting for the stage.

With lunch calling it's time to hit the 'Mess' for our canteen style vitals!

The gig is a storming success with the audience going wild.. I'm told we had a better crowd than Kiss!

With our gear packed away and showers received by the sweaty.. it's time to take a case of beer to the hard working stage volunteers and have beer.
They are joined by a couple of others including Kimberly who, liking my accent, required me to swear.. I obliged with a "blast" and "crikey"!

Drinks were well received and we all have a good after work drink and chat... nice end to a nice day.

So after a great day off chilling and enjoying the local sites in the beautiful old town..

It's time to hit the Festival D'ete International.. but with storm clouds looming Rainmaker doesn't make the set...

It's no use the clouds are not passing, just looking more likely to burst.

Polythene is generously applied to all gear present including the mic heads!

And with rain falling the gates are opened and the fans pour in...

Back stage drips..

With Steve Hill blasting through his set and rocking the rainclouds it really did start to pour..

After show the rain stopped for us to have a safe load out with Denny and his locals.

Jet and I decide to brave the showers in the trailers...

Screaming like girls, as the water is freezing, we both manage to lock ourselves into our respective, adjacent rooms!

So with a Walmart midnight stop to stock up on all things Yankee we hit the road.

With the border breached we head towards Toronto...

It's world cup final day and questions are posed as to where the match is to viewed.

The Glogal Mogulateur sets up office on the balcony as I raise the locals to dump our trailer..

And what a great bunch of guys.. we have it unloaded and built in record time.

The sun is beating down and the stage looks like God has a pretty good idea of where the musicians will be.

I accosted by a rather friendly lady called Mary who has brought her teenage son with her. He has the air of someone who is about to be educated about him...

Vince hangs with us at FOH to enjoy some of The Mogulateur's fine moves and grooves..

With the show under our belts and a day off looming, Steve and the crew take to the balcony.

Rosco decides he needs the clothes rack and tries in vain to disguise it as a Dalek.

This is a 'shed' which Steve tell's me he has played a lot as it's one of the oldest around.

With a sound check ahead we soon get on it and fill the stage..

Santana has a special guest tonight in the form of Cindy Blackman. We get chance to witness some of her fabulous talent whilst Chris is modifying the organ.

With 15 minutes before doors Steve gets on board and runs the organ in..

We have Stubby Assistant stage Manager from the Santana rocking to the sound of 40,000 Headmen, which is added to the set tonight.

After a quiet day off in Cincinnati.. With it being a national holiday there really isn't much to do.

Rosco and I hit the streets and find a spot food and shopping...

Later on we also meet up with Paul, Richard and Karl and are joined by Jimmy, who is the Live Nation rep.

Richard and Karl head home early to leave us in A bar and the night goes swimmingly.

The morning brings us to the venue and as the name suggests it's on the Ohio river.

The temperature is 31 degrees ( about 88 in Fahrenheit) but the humidity is really up there..

The load in and set up is a sweaty affair and we take time to reflect on the last time we were here, on with Tom Petty...

The gig goes down a storm and Jose get a standing ovation for his solo in Low Spark..

Great audience...great vibes!

With Santana providing a soundtrack to our load out, we find it hard to contain ourselves...

After the gig I go out front with Steve and enjoy some of the Santana show..

Then I grab my camera and do a spot of low light photography.

Before the day is out Jet Poe finds a new Bear, Izzy and a group is born..

With the show over and some time to kill before we hit the road a movie is chosen and we sit down to enjoy The Good Shepherd.

Our movie is somewhat disturbed by the sound of explosions!

Saturday in the Park, Sioux City 03-07-10

With the bus parked outside Mike's house and the satellite is down, it's time to find a plan.

Football is a serious business on our bus and an important match has to be seen.

We eventually get the go ahead to move it down the hill.. and we have reception!!

Meanwhile the crew hit the festival and are greeted by Sean, production assistant and security for Santana.

Then it's the tricky deal of getting the stuff out of a sloping trailer and up a concrete causeway before it has to be made and taken up a series of steel ramps ...

Thanks to a Dodge flatbed pick up and a few locals we're to get into a position to build a few bits.

After Michael Franti had brought up most of the kids in the audience to sing, sang a song in the middle of the festival and brought Amanda Shaw up to Jam..Jose joins him for some hot Neto licks!!

And on we go.....

With the day's grueling heat still prevalent the load out is topless and sweaty!

Ross find the keg in our dressing room and gets to work before getting thrown out by bouncer Bailey.

I managed to get side stage to enjoy Black Magic Woman.. nice.

With the festival celebrating 20 years there is cake and Fireworks to finish.. I don't know which I enjoyed more.

Day off in Sioux City and Famous Dave makes an appearance! 02-07-10

As we wake from our slumber the bus is trying to get into the hotel car park.

Round and around we go.. and go .. until finally we get in.

Showers, laundry, Walgreen's, suitcase sorting.. All before a spot of exercise.

On our little trip to see the 'Spirit of Sioux' statue we encountered such revelry.

We find the marina, whose car park was resplendant with 2 bright yellow corvettes..

We also find a massive statue of Lewis & Clark with a large new foundland dog.

On our way we bump into a couple also taking the air..

And it's back to the Mogulators pad to count up the swag!

The day is completed by a huge tray of barbeque food courtesy of Famous Dave.

It's that time again..... Summerfest, the world's biggest festival, in length ;)

Catering accomodates Jet and his new range of creamed marshmallow..

Mmmm like eating a sweet cloud after an airbus A380 has passed through it!

And yet his bear Koko, still wont talk to him, no matter how much Jet Puffed he feed's her.

Jose however, is too engrossed in the tennis to notice.

Back stage before the gig and I get to work on some low light photo's.. when I'm approached by a burly man asking to see my credentials...

With the gig over and the trailer packed, I relax on the bus and get an early night...

St Paul, Minnesota- Gig day 30-06-10

And so we rise and shine for our first show on this wonderful town of St.Paul Minnesota.

Ross and I go looking for breakfast and are not disappointed thanks to a classic streamline diner.

Steve looks for a hair cut and finds more than he bargained for.

With the band set up on the stage the last few tweeks are performed by us and sound check is on!

And I follow Globul Modulator to front of house to play with the lights ... hehehe

Show was a corker and the tunes were very well received..

With the load out complete we have just a few moments to watch some hot latin flavours from Mr.Santana and band.

After the gig Carlos invites us in for some after show food- spicy wings!

We graciously accept and meet the band too, who all seem like thoroughly nice guys.

Although it's not quite Vegas it's still full of lots of people tending slots and flipping cards in the hope of winning back just a quarter of what's been spent.

Ross and I awake and go off in search of Breakfast. A simple plan?

Yes..but we didn't count on everything being connected. We soon found ourselves in a completely different casino.

After leaving a trail of breadcrumbs we get back to Caesars and chow down, being soon joined by John and his buddy Adam.

After breakfast we take the morning air and walk outside of the pier, marveling at the snowy beach.

Ross finds a slot machine here! However the gamble pays off and we can see the ocean...

On the way to load in John sees a familiar face and wonders where he's seen it before.....

After sound check we go off in search of adventure and maybe some rest.

Jet finds a locker room and insists he show me something.

I lost him out side the lift (elevator) and when it stops and the doors gracefully slide open..

Out comes Jet Noise and his Harem of Beauties! Go Jet Go!!

Another fine show with a valentines audience to rock with.

And so another bunch of shows finished it's all aboard the bus for one final trip to the Hotel.

Jose takes a moment to trade some oriental crackers with Karl, just one more dried anchovy says Karl...

Morris men in Morristown!

Unfortunately there really were no morris men to be found, and we did look!

Jet Noise puts the call out to see if anyone has seen or heard from them.

Meanwhile in an attempt to steal the Globul Mogul's title John tries to use his mac and his phone at the same time....

Whilst in the venue we're treated to a fine sound check by the boys in preparation for a top gig!

And what a blinder! The rafters were raised somewhat!

Some special friends were treated to a great night..
Emily, Nick and the Endean Family plus the amazing Crystal all enjoyed a blinder!

With all the necessary gear on the deck and some top guys helping we get a good sound check in.

Le Grand Nacho enjoys all the space in our dressing room.

And the theatre fills up with expectant fans looking forward to a great show.

Another storming show!

Special thanks to Karl who not only helped above and beyond but gave me some good whiskey tips.

After the show we hit the centre bar and Paul, Ross and myself hit the nightclub for some dancing!

We met a group of psychiatric nurses who were having trouble with a couple of DB's sharking their single friends.

Needles to say, as gentlemen, we offered our help.

A fine ride into Mashantucket.. we hit the restaurant to enjoy some fine steak!

Snow Show in Red Bank...

On arrival to Jersey we are greeted by a profusion of flaky, white, cold snow.

Steve finds a shop or two of interest...

We do have a little time to go in search of some Red Bank sites..
Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash.

Ross and JT pop into a music store while John and I enter the famous comic store.

The guy behind the counter is obviously not meant to be there that day, most other stores have closed due to the incoming blizzard.

He jumps on us and quizzes me whether I had phoned earlier, I asked whether that was why he'd opened.

He quickly deduces my racial heritage and a fantastic serious of quips is exchanged whilst John stands aghast!

We are then joined by Ross and JT and Steve also pops in to have a look and marvel at the giant Mooby.

Sound check goes well with locals Like Daniel (pictured), Greg and Anthony we're in good hands. Although Alison, the runner, isn't really running anywhere, anytime, so I end up with a needle and thread instead of new trousers!

John has a bit of tweaking to do to the sonar kit for the show.

At this stage there is some concern as to whether there is a state of emergency called and the gig canceled...

Dale gets concerned as the snow falls the bus slide out seems to want to stay out!

Ross, Jt and myself all help and the bus is restored.. Hoorah Dale!

Karl doesn't seem to want to stay out for too long....

Well the venue starts to fill up to everyone's relief...and the show goes on!

A big thanks for braving the elements is given by Steve, and felt by all the band and crew!

Everyone who turned up was going to have a great gig!

Durham and eggs!

After a day off in Florida chatting to the locals we leave for Durham, North Carolina.
Our driver Dale takes us calmly into the night.

With a hefty curbside load in complete.... we try and find our way around the venue..
Ross finds a a map inscribed on the wall by the last band who got lost!

Jhett Poe arrives in the nick of time...and takes us to eat.
We sit and enjoy barbeque food courtesy of Cindy.

Our Man Fields, promoter on the inside, has teamed up with Thorne and Pat to promote this gig, great job guys.

With a few famous relatives in the audience, the family Poe, the show kicks off.

And the crowd go wild!!!

What a reception from Durham.. Happy day.

And so as Ross and I bed down for the night in England...

Steve, James, JT and John hit Miami in preparation for Super Bowl 44.

Sunday morning sees the team united and the stage set for the Tailgate party.

Sound check gets kicking with the Global Mogul and Jhett Poe overseeing the proceedings.

John Fields stops helping Richard for a moment to look at the camera...SMILE!

As sound check is over Ross and I take a moment to reflect in front of the stadium before collapsing in the RV, our very stylish dressing room....zzzzzzzzzz

While we sleep Jhett Poh decides to take it for a spin...Go Jhett Poh!!

The gig goes well with our boys playing a blinder whilst billions of Americans enjoy a top rendition of Higher Love......

After the gig Paul, Ross and myself repair to Dirty Blonde's sports bar.
We're joined by Paul's friend Kim to enjoy happy hour and the game!

Meanwhile Steve, James, Jt, Jose, Karl and John sit at the 10th yard line at the stadium, nice!

Just before the forth quarter Ross and I pop out for a quick slice and spot of mischief at the local pizzeria.

Boy did those guys not know what hit them as a rather well oiled duo hit home with true colonial wit!

So with an early load in successfully executed James, Si-Fi and Ross head back for the boys..

Ross, now in JT's shoes so to speak, wonder's why his new ipod isn't playing System of a Down anymore.....Simon and I stay to await the arrival of our families...and get a few zzzzzzz's

It's not too long before I'm left holding the baby!

Well, Gabriel did have a little scream when he arrived and was calmed by Simon Nicholls' wife, while Kelly got comfortable...

Jimmy takes up position at the front of house tent with Si-Fi snapping a few shots....and keeping award winning James company.

Cropredy's friendly family festival vibe is not lost on the Winwood crew and band...

Steve's friend's Mike Kellie and Bill Hunt turn up along with Eliza and her fella too.. We also get to meet Ross' lady Sarah too...

Simon's pregnant lady Dee and son Jack arrive, Karl's Wife Tessa with Afi and Remi complete the family vibe...

My son Curig and Karl's boy Remi, already firm friends, hit the festival and go off and cause mayhem side stage...

The picks up where those fabulous Buzzcocks left off....Big hi to Steve Diggle who spent some time with us before the show drinking champagne and waxing lyrical.

A wicked show indeed!

Dave Pegg is behind me the whole show and later joined by the rest of Fairport, except Simon Nicholl who graces James and Simon at front of house... Steve Diggle also turns up to enjoy some top playing from the band and a hot performance from Mr.Winwood!

So we hit HQ for a few beers and a wind down......

And so with ~Jet Glow gone to attend his buddies wedding with our old friend Mr.Fields, it's time to usher in some new blood!

We have a great load in and one of the faces is very familiar indeed...It's Andy from Bristol..

With a bit of time before sound check I'm fixing strings for Jose with my good friend Steve Parker, a local of Falmouth..who supplies some much the needed 10's!

We hit the beech for a quick catch up and some sun...

So what do you eat when visit the seaside? Why fish and chips of course.....everybody enjoyed!

Moments before the show and the crowd are excited....if you look carefully you can see Steve, like some latter day where's wally..it's stalk Steve!

What a great show..the crowd went wild!!

The new boys had done well and load out was smooth. The long drive home was full of Sci-Fi chat with Andy and Simon followed by a bit of audiophile natter with an impromptu meeting of the CAS!

Just at this moment a guy walks in front of the stage weaing full cycling regalia with shades, bandana and beard... could this be Jose's German doppelganger?

Oh yes! With some bike's backstage too....

It's not long before the fun begins...well I thought so anyway.

A day off in Bilbao and we head off into town..each to find his own ting!

James hits the nail on the head first by finding a wireless spot and wastes no time in receiving another 100 emails, the the life of a global mogul!

Steve has a chat with the local promoter while James takes time to answer his mail...

Johnny T scopes out the locale for a decent wine store..but finds a great big shinny building instead.
We all walk on in style, I must confess to not quite feeling myself at that time.

So we sit down to gather strength and take in the museum, especially after witnessing probably the best installation EVER!

Unfortunately there was no footage taken as the 'man/ woman in the blanket-dragon' was just too much of a surprise.

So we all enjoy the dog and head off back to the hotel, without finding a decent tobacconist for Steve, wine shop for JT or photography shop for yours truely.

We did however all marvel at the local bus route......

Rocky Bilbao...28/07/09

And so to Northern Spain... It's all a bit greener and we are greeted by rain!

We hit the hotel a day before show and Steve, James, Johnny and I go to a friendly local bar and discover Gulas....mmm baby eels baby!

After a good nights rest we get a decent welcome at the venue and the locals again are extremely quick in getting to work!

With the band shopping Simon waste's no time in getting his cuddle from our promoter's rep Marjorie.

Johnny T just can't get away from his past!

That Jet Lag tour was a bitch too...
One time me and Johnny we're in this venue..*ramble ramble*....*blurt yawn*...

So the stage is set and after a mad rush to the only music shop in the village to get strings, we're ready!

Actually whilst tuning Jose's guitars I banged my head 3 times on the advertising screen's they lowered onto the stage....

So with a false start due to our aging B3 we get going....

But not for long as Johnny has to hit the volume pedal for some emergency TLC...

What a guy!
So with all kit in order and Karls' dropped shaker back in place, the show is hot hot hot!

What a crowd, Jimmy gets a top sound and really pushes the p.a. whilst the crowd are whipped into a frenzy!

Simon has been held up at merch central, so I employ Pinky to dismantle his drums.

What a great job too! I fired Simon then hired Pinky, re-hired Simon and fired Ross..
Then fired myself and hired George!

It was that kind of night :)

It's back indoors with some air conditioning for this one..but still we find ourselves sweating!

Really nice old theatre today with courtyard bars surrounding it!

And so did three intrepid explorers venture forth into the black Forest!

Dead branches were found and fashioned into walking sticks.

The road was long and arduous, the explorers took shelter in a cave for a moment...

The glory of the vista was not lost on the walkers as they enjoyed the summit.

And it's into the local brewery to wet their parched throats and fill their empty bellies..

What a great day, in fact everyone came back to the pub to eat, drink and be merry..*hic*..
